OLD BUSINESS:
TPPS: Maria Henley: Weekly meetings with UWEC have been attended. Currently, city staff is working on a pro forma parking permit system that both UWEC and the neighborhood could agree on. Discussion followed.
Blues Festival Update: Ken Fulgione said there is a fund raising opportunity to sell pie at the blues fest. He needs someone to take over this project.
Results of the issues poll completed by steering committee members: showed the top issues were:
1. City housing codes enforcement
2. Kappus and Putnam park
3. Increasing single family home ownership
4. Pedestrian safety
5. Parking fines
Third Ward Website update: the website will be live shortly. So far the website includes:
1. A section about the Third Ward in general, including the top reasons to live here, adapted from our neighborhood plan
2. A map of the neighborhood with zones
3. list of steering committee members
4. a section for minutes from our meetings
5. links to neighborhood schools
6. pictures from around the neighborhood
Newsletter: the newsletter committee is working on getting a newsletter out in early September.
Riverbank Update: Ken Fulgione reported that recently an injunction was filed to keep a neighborhood attorney and all members of the neighborhood away from the site. This was thrown out. Ken requested that the TWNA consider helping pay the attorneys fees. Discussion followed.
NEW BUSINESS: September neighborhood party was decided to be held as a dessert party combined with the annual meeting. This will be held Sept. 23 7:00 at the EC Public Library. We also discussed having signs made to announce steering committee meetings. A motion was made and passed that we purchase these signs. Garry Sherwood will follow up on this.
We also discussed the need for new members of the steering committee, especially members that represent their own zone. Members are encouraged to invite a neighbor!
